When the expansion joint is used in the pipeline, it mainly guarantees the safe operation of the pipeline. The product must be filled due to the large temperature changes in thepipeline. The following explains the packing problem of the expansion joint in the pipeline at different temperatures.

The packing used in the expansion joint is a gasket. Its purpose is to pad between the plates when tightening the bolts on the flange surface to fill the uneven and concave parts of 

the flange surfaces. When the temperature does not exceed 40℃, the material used as the gasket is rubber cloth. At a temperature of 60°C, a blanket made of flax warp can be used.

 When the temperature reaches 95℃, the material of the gasket can be gray paper cypress. The paper cypress is used because it is stronger than blankets, which are eroded by steam 

or water pressure. Before filling, the gasket should be soaked in dry oil (tung oil). Because of this, the solidification of the filler can be promoted.

When the pipe temperature exceeds 100°C, asbestos paper cypress or steam paper cypress can be used for expansion joints, because these two types of paper cypress are the thickest

 and hardest type of paper cypress, and they also have durability at high temperatures. The ingredients of steamed paper cypress include: asbestos, rubber, (emulsion quality) (the main 

function of adding these materials is to make the paper cypress elastic) and some fillers-usually white china clay. When making any steamed paper cypress, it must be passed through 

a heated cloth machine to remove the moisture in the rubber.
